Athearn AMD-103(P42) DCC & Sound
Posted by CB&Q4-8-4Fanatic on Saturday, January 9, 2010 2:47 PM

I just bought an Athearn AMD-103 that is made for Walthers. I would like to upgrade it with DCC & Sound with the ditch lights and the red marker lights. Has anyone done this type of installation. What decoder could I use?

If you ran a no car train on no track, how long would it take to derail?

I have installed just ditch light, no marker lights.  I used sunny white LEDs with reduced tips from Richmond Controls for the headlights and regular sunny white LEDs for the ditch lights.

I used a Loksound decoder that had custom sounds downloaded on it from Ulrich Models.  For the speaker, I used a base enhanced oval also purchased from Ulrich Models.

Hope this helps.

Hello,

Look at this movie
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnF5aWuwZxU&feature=channel.
This youtube's user has the series of movies from 26A to 26F where he shows the entire process. He uses QSI Revolution in his model.

I am working on mine AMD103 right know but I chose the LokSound decoder and a base enhanced oval speaker from Ulrich Models exactly as the wholeman. They have a custom sound set prepared exactly for AMD103.

Regards,
Arek
