i have two locos set up in a consist... on the right throttle. i wanted to control a third loco on the left, but it seems to stop the consist control.. is this normal? if so then I would need a second digitrax throttle to control other locos ?

That should not be happening. You build the consists by selectign the lead unit on the right throttle, then select a second unit ont he left and using the MU and + keys to add it. You can select another loco on the left and either add it to the consist or just run it by itself. After you add your last loco tot he consist, are you staying in the consist screen maybe? After adding the last loco and having the consist under control, hit the Exit button before either clicking the left knob or turning it one click to make the left side active, then hit Loco and select the one you want to run. If the smoke is not blinking on the left engine icon, selecting a loco will repalce the consist, because if the left isn't blinking, then the right must be.

well I thought I was exiting the mu programmig mode as i would hit MU a second time and the add y/n would dissappear. i must need to hit exit. i will try that in the morning and report back. I thought I had done a consist and a seperate loco on the left knob before, but it was just after i got the system. I have only had it for a few months so some things are still new to me. thank you!
With two seperate locos selected on the right and left throttle, pressing the MU button the display will show add- remove Y-N . Press Y and the two locos will be MU'ed and will both run on the right throttle. There's no reason to press exit. Want to add another loco? Activate the left throttle by turning it counter clockwise, press loco button, enter the new address, press loco button again to lock the address, then press MU + Y. The three loco's are now MU'ed. To breakup the consist, do the same procedure but press the N button instead of the Y. Also if you leave them MU'ed when you shut off the system they will stay MU'ed when you restart again, unless you clear the command stations memory.
actually my issue seems to be that the 2 locos that are in the consist are not speed matched... it seemed like I had jerky motion when i pulled up the third loco on the left knob but it just was a coincidence. i just need now to learn how to speed match the two locos that are in the consist. one is a bit faster...and the other one starts up slower... thank you all for your help!
