My BLI Broadway Limited 4-6-4 appears to have a noise coming from the smoke fan. This is a loud constant noise that only can be heard when the smoke is turned on, and sounds like a old ford with a worn fan belt. I have tried changing the CV's, but no change. There is an aboundance of smoke and is emitted at a fast rate which is kinda cool, but the noise makes me think I have a bad fan. I have not attempted to disassemble anything based on warranty and my limited knowledge. Has anyone had this experience?
If I were you, I'd contact BLI and send it back for repair or replacement under warranty.
It has been my experience that if you purchased the loco through Factory Direct Trains they will send you a replacement along with a pre-paid UPS return label so you can return the defective unit; but if you purchased it somewhere else, you have to deal directly with BLI.
Either way, use your warranty instead of tiinkering with it and invalidating said warranty.
BLI has a "contact us" on their web site where you can send them an e-mail and explain the problem. They usually reply within a few days and will tell you what your options are.
Chuffingsounds like a old ford with a worn fan belt
Sounds like a bad bearing in the fan motor.
