electric turnouts
Posted by mailman51 on Sunday, December 6, 2009 10:41 AM

I'm building an N scale layout and using MRC prodigy express DCC . I recently bought a bunch of lifelike turnouts that have remote switch control for controlling the turnouts. Can I hook these turnouts into the bus wire with feeder wires like the feeders for track power, or will I have to use a seperate power pack for this? If so , will the power pack need different wiring? Thanks for the help.

Don't hook up the switch controllers to the dcc buss. You can hook it to the power supply (if your system uses a seperate power supply) before it goes to the command station. I have done this on my home layout and the N layout at my club. If you have voltage selection on your system be sure to use the N gauge voltage position. If you don't have this feature use a seperate power supply.
