Hi all my first post ever here, so hope I am in right forum
I am in the process of going to DCC. I have the SDX-1 sound system by CVP that I really like
and would like to continue to use it. Is this possible? Is there a decoder I need to make this work? Keith Gutierrez at CVP ran 5 articles in 1991 about this system, so I invested in it and found it closest to a diesel ( an EMD) that I've ever heard. I prefer the under the layout sound, My layout is only 4x8 HO so following the train is not an issue. He states in the June 1991 issue page 96, “that it will work on command control” is this different than DCC? There have been some big changes in this hobby since 1998. other demands forced me to drop the hobby for a while, but now that I'm retired It's full steam ahead ( no pun intended )
Thanks any help appreciated
The "Command Control" referred to by Keith in those articles back then was probably RailCommand, which CVP still supports to a limited degree, although Keith says it is on the verge of total obsolescence; but it was not the DCC systems as we know them today.
You'd probably be much better off addressing your question about the SDX-1 to Keith at CVP. They are still in business, but their core systems are now the EasyDCC for smaller scales and AirWire900 for G-scale.

Thank you cacole,
You're answer pretty much took care of all my questions. And left me with an option.
