Lost Tsunami Address - How do I reset?

I just installed a Tsunami Atlas Decoder today and when I programmed CV 17, 18 & 29, the address does not work. And now address 3 does not work. How do I reset the decoder to factory settings if I can't read the address on the programming track?

I entered 0044 for the 4 digit address ( cv17=192, cv18=44) and CV29 to 34. Now neither 3 or 44 works to talk to the loco.

I am using an MRC Advanced2.

 CV 30=2 or CV 8=8 will reset it.

You have really messed up on the address and CV values.  You cannot enter an address of 0044 to be a 4 digit address because the decoder will ignore the first two zeros.

You need to download and refer to the Tsunami Technical Reference Manual which can be downloaded from the SoundTraxx web site.

I removed all of the engines and broadcast on address 0 to change CV8. I now have it back to address 3.

You certainly can have a 4 digit address of 44, although some systems will not let you select it for running. "0044" is just a way of distinguishing the 4 digit 44 from the 2 digit 44, and some systems actually have you enter the leading 0's when entering a 4 digit address less than 128. One thing I am not clear on , however, is whether or not MRC's system will actually let you select a 4 digit address less than 128. In the specs, they say they support 2 digit addresses 1-127 and 4 digit addresses 1-9,999, but they don't say how to select a 2-digit address below 128, and when describing CV29 they consider 4 digit addresses 128-9999. Additionally, the Prodigy Tips and Tricks specifically mentions not entering leading 0's, so I suspect that you cannot select a 2 digit address below 128. If this is the case, then you need to program the decoder to a 2 digit address 44, either by using the address programming feature of the throttle or by programming CV1 to 44.

 If it works like NCE, you have to key on 0044 to distinguish long address 0044 from short address 44. I've posted my thoughts on this very confusing loophole in the NMRA spec before. Some systems are 1-127 ALWAYS short, 128+ ALWAYS long. Some allow 1-127 short AND 1+ long. Others are 1-99 ALWAYS short, 100+ ALWAYS long. All are valid per NMRA specs. You can see how there are addresses that will work on one system and not on others - for 100% compatibility, use 1-99 for short addresses, avoid using 100-127, and use 128+ for long. Follow those guidelines and a given loco will work with any brand DCC system.
