DCC decoder
Posted by Somchai on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 5:50 PM

While on vacation recently in Colorado my 11 year old daughter  purchased an Athearn Rotary Snow Plow for her layout and because she is running DCC would like to have it fitted with a DCC decoder so that the rotor can be controlled more realisticaly. A friend of mine has said that he can do the fitting  for her but he is uncertain of how to proceed with there being  a circuit board installed. Could anyone please advise on how to proceed with fitting the decoder.

Many thanks.

Somchai.

Sign - Welcome

Remove the factory board and hard wire a decoder in. Red and black wires to the track pickups. Orange and gray to the motor brushes. If you want a headlight than those wires are blue and white. A golden white LED for a headlight and 1K resistor or a 14 volt bulb is needed.
