Lenz LZV 100 Command Station Boots into Layout Off Mode
Posted by KB0QQW on Friday, August 28, 2009 2:40 PM

Hi All,

We have an LZV100 Command Station that seems to always boot up into Layout Off Mode.  I've tried replacing it with another spare LZV100 and it comes up just fine so I think I can eliminate any other possible causes outside the physical command station.  My guess is that there is a setting that is messed up but I can't seem to locate any that are "out of the ordinary" based on the manual.

Any thoughts on how to solve this (besides replacing the LZV-100) would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris

Check the manual.  There may be a command to reset the unit to factory defaults.

Or, you can contact the Lenz representative in Chelmsford, MA.  She's answered e-mails from me, so I'm sure she'd give you any information she has.  If you can't find an e-mail for her, contact Gerry at www.mainetrains.com  or mainetrains210@aol.com.  She drops in occasionally (same town) and I'm sure he'd be glad to give her a message.

Pages 13 and 15 of the LZV100 manual on the Lenz site detail the reset process for both components (the command station and the booster) contained in the LZV100 unit. Reset of the command station involves multiple presses of a function key after selecting address 00, resetting of the booster involves programming certain CVs in Ops Mode.
