OK, got the loksound engines up and running and love the sound. My BLI steam engines now sound like caboose in compression.
While talking with Steve from Ulrich Models about my Loksound decoder I asked him about high base speakers for the BLI steam fleet. He told me the older QSI decoder did not have sufficient power to power a high base speaker. I do know base takes more power. So is he right or is he only right about the speakers he sells?
3 of the engines I would like to up grade are Paragon M1a, Hudson and Class J, other one came in a blue box and is a Heavy Mike Monon. Monon engine sound is so quite, not worth running and I Love Monon.
Thank for the coming answers.

I would call QSI Tony and ask them, Ken. Then upgrade chip for the QSIs sold prior to 2006 came out that summer. I converted all but my first engine, the Hudson, to the upgraded chip. I can't say the new chip has or doesn't have the capacity to run the newer high-bass speakers from QSI, but I would get the word from the horse's mouth. Call Tony's Train Exchange.

Daved, at this point there is no funds for a Tsunami decoder. Later on if I had the funds, what about QSI up grade decoders? I have to guess you have tried better speakers? I was looking and the ported speaker.
