Loconet Connections with JMRI
Posted by johnjpeebles on Thursday, June 18, 2009 4:28 PM

I burned out my Loconet port on my Zephyr (long story, don't ask), but otherwise, the unit is fine.  I'm trying to plug in my Locobuffer USB into a DS64's loconet connection.  Am I wrong in thinking this should work?

The DS64 is a decoder and connects to a command station via the loconet.  If I am not wrong the jmri software neeeds to talk to the command station via the Locobuffer through the loconet connection.  Since your command station doesn't have a functioning Loconet port I think that you are out of luck.

After thinking about my first reply I remembered that the Zephyr has 2 Loconet ports. Did you fry both? If one is still working and is connected to your DS64 you can probably daisy chain access the Loconet through an open port on the DS64 if it has one.  THe experts can correct me if I am off base.
