Installing a SoundTraxx Tsunami GN1000 in an Athearn SD70M
Posted by UnionPacific3985 on Saturday, May 23, 2009 8:55 PM

I recently saw the release of the new Tsunami decoder for Athearn Genesis locomotives (GN1000). I am considering getting a couple for my SD70M's. I have been doing some research on what type of speaker to use to get the optimum sound quality. I was wondering if anyone had equipped a SD70M with sound and what speakers do you recommend? This is my first step into the realm of sound so any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

For the GN1000, can you put front/rear and ditch lights all to the 1.5v pad or is it just easier to install resistors for each?

I believe you can simply attach the lights directly to the function output pads on the decoder without using resistiors.
