I bought and installed a digitrax decoder #DZ 125 ps in a newly purchased (2) BLI blue line RSD-15. One I installed and works great. The other takes off at full speed soon as I put it on the track. I looked at it using the digitrax pr3 and JMRI, but really shows the same cv's as the one that works. Anybody know what's wrong, is it possible I have a new bad decoder. The loco works fine with DC but not with the DCC decoder installed. Purchased from Tony's. Thanks in advance, Jim
I would check the BLI website, I know there have some people reporting problems with Blue Line engines not liking some decoders. Otherwise, I would double check the engines ID no. on the programming track. It could be it got a signal for "full speed ahead" and hasn't gotten any instructions to stop because the ID no. you're using isn't correct. I don't know why, but once in a great while a decoder will lose it's ID no., or while programming another CV a modeller will accidently change one of the CV's that affect the ID no. (For example, if you're using a long ID like 400, and you accidently change the CV setting that allows for long ID numbers, the engine won't recognize ID 400 when you put it in.)
IF nothing works, try re-setting the decoder to the factory settings (see the instructions that came with tthe decoder, or the Digitrax website) and start over. Somebody that repairs decoders recently said that like half the decoders they get in for repair only needed a factory reset.
