Hi, I have Micro-Trains N Scale A/B FT units with Digitrax DN163N0 decoders. I can't seem to get them to run even and the drawbar between them comes unattached. I am kinda new at this and I am wondering if it would be better to use regular couplers. They run close to each other but eventually the A unit pulls away. Thanks for your help all.
What it sounds like you need to do is temporarily detach them from each other and "speed match" them. Normally it's easier to slow down the one that is going too fast than vice versa, in this case the A unit.
If they're close, I'd start with CV5 (top speed) at say 200 and CV6 (midrange speed) at 100 and them try running them together (but don't reconnect them yet). If the A unit is still too fast, drop it down to maybe CV5 = 180 and CV6 = 90. Keep dropping it, keeping the midrange half of the top speed, until it's right. Of course if you go to far, you can always go back up a little.
It will take time, there's no easy shortcut...just trial and error...but eventually you'll get them to where you can set them a foot apart and run them and they won't get any closer to each other no matter how long they run.
If you want, you can use CV3 and CV4, starting and stopping momentum, to fine tune their stopping and starting so they start together slowly and then coast to a gentle stop.
Thanks for the help
