Older vs. newer TCS decoders?
Posted by tony22 on Saturday, February 21, 2009 3:43 PM

I just got 4 TCS CN decoders for my fleet of older Atlas split frames. I noticed the packaging is not the same on all four and started wondering if that means some are older or newer (basically worried about getting the latest FW). In one package the insert page has a yellow upper section and the price is printed in the upper right corner. In the other three the entire front of the paper insert is white and there is no price. Does anyone know if this says anything about the age of the decoder?

The CN is the newest decoder that has been put out. I just got an Email from TCS about a wire harness problem in some CN decoders shipped in December and January. Go to their web site and look for the warning. This could be the reason for the change in wrapping.

Thanks Pete. I checked the website and the warning listed is for recent CN-GP decoders. No mention was made of the CN.

I decided to email TCS in the hopes that they are as nutty about this stuff as we are, and that someone there reads email on the weekends.
