anyone using CVP's Easy DCC system? any pros or cons?
let the bashing begin..............................
PROS:
I have one that I use at the club for programming decoders when nothing else will. It is set up as a portable programming track and is used outdoors to run our modular layout during open houses.
The EasyDCC radio throttle is small and easy to handle compared to other systems.
It is a very bullet-proof, reliable system.
You can perform your own system upgrades by simply replacing the EPROM chip instead of having to send anything back to CVP.
CONS:
Their manual leaves a lot to be desired on clarity. You can download their manual from the web site and read through it using Adobe Acrobat if you haven't already done so.
For everyday operation on the club layout and my own HO scale home layout, our DCC system of choice is the NCE ProCab Radio system. We chose it because EasyDCC didn't support enough NMRA function commands to operate sound decoders when we were looking for a system to put onto the club layout.
CVP is slow about upgrading their EPROM.
Whether CVP has upgraded their system since, I don't know.
