What is this decoder...?
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, January 27, 2009 7:31 PM

And what is it capable of doing?

It was one I immediately replaced in a new Bachmann GP50 with a NCE BachDSL.   Now I suppose I could use it if it had any VLow V Mid and V High CVs that would allow me to speed match it.

I also suppose I could try connecting it to the programming track to see what Decoder Pro read off it, but I hoped someone in the forum could tell me if it had the aforementioned CVs.  Otherwise I will just use it to turn on some lights in a building.

I know it is not the same as this old Lenz 100 used in the older Bachmann DCC onboard.  These can't be speed matched because the have no motor control CVs....just start and stop voltage adjustments.

Thanks to anyone with some info.

I have no idea what that might be.  But there is someone over on the Digitrax group looking for one of these to put into a "B" unit.  I don't know if that means it might be Digitrax or not.

If it came out of a factory-equipped Bachmann locomotive it is a custom made Lenz decoder with a lot of missing CVs.

I use those as temporary stand-ins until I can install a better decoder, usually a DZ125.
