Looking for help with the above issue. I am trying to attach several accessories triggered by the passing train. Using an accessory activator pack I have tried using a simple oval and non TMCC transformer. This seems to work . Then on the real layout with a ZW and two powerpacks, and connecting the wires as the instructions say, I seem to get shorts(everything dies) and changing the wire in the insulated section specifically the red middle rail wire to an outside(the isolated sections) piece of track. After reading the accessory activator instructions for the 8th time, I thought I read-attach the red tipped wire that was attached to the middle raiI to then attach it to an inner rail(not outermost)outside the break,piece of track. The diagram shows it to be the inner rail not outer. Does that matter? Having done that, I then attached the black outer rail wire on the opposite side of the rail breaks to the power terminal of the accessory. What am I doing wrong? Thanks jack
I have the crossing gates and needed an isolated piece of track on either side of the accessory and a couple of insulated pieces in between the isolated pieces to make it work longer. Go to the lionel website and you will see the activator pack that has 2 5" isolated pieces and one 10" insulated piece. It will also show you how to wire it(tough it does not matter wheather or not it is the inside or outside rail just as long the insulated pieces are on the same side.)
