NCE power booster
Posted by marges diamond on Monday, October 27, 2008 5:24 PM

Have a NCE power cab system.  Am happy running two trains with it.  Was wondering has anybody installed the 3 amp smart booster to this system.....any pro's or con's on doing so??  My layout is about 15 feet long and 4 feet wide.  I seem to have enough power but was thinking of adding more...any advice will be greatly appreciated....Marges Diamond...

Smile Hello!

I have the power cab and run 2 double header trains with sound and one switcher. also have another sound engine setting on the rails. A total of 6 with no problem. My layout is 5' by 18', It does not seem to mater how much track you have but if they are or are not modern engines.  We run quite a bit of track at the club with about the same results. of course If you need more throttles thats a different story.

Happy railroading

Marges,

Are you a subscriber to MR?  If so, I wrote a review of the NCE Smart Booster (SB3) that is posted in the Reader Reviews section of MR.  Here's the direct link:

NCE Smart Booster review

It's also posted on the forum.  However, with the recent change in the forum format, the link is now broken.  Hopefully this will be resolved soon.

Marges, if you aren't a subscriber, feel free to drop me an e-mail or PM and I'd be more than glad to send you the review in a Word.doc.  It should answer your questions.

Tom,

I was able to open the Smart Booster link from the forum question by Marges Diamond.

Also, thank you for the additional information.
