Digitrax UR91 question
Posted by Blind Bruce on Saturday, August 23, 2008 5:08 PM

I seem to remember that the loconet sockets on the front and rear of the UR91 serve different purposes. I have looked in my manuals but can't find it.

Do I connect the rear socket to the Zephyr?

Can I "acquire" a loco from the front socket?

The "difference" is that one of the front sockets has been replaced with an IR sensor so the UR-91 will work with non-radio wireless throttles, too. The DT100, DT300, and DT400 all have IR transmitters and will work wireless to the UR91 in a line-of-sight, like a tv remote does. The remaining three sockets work the same as usual.

The difference is that the sockets on the front do not have the rail sync pins so if you have multiple boosters you will not be able to maintain sync between them if the daisychain through the front jacks.  I found this out from experience.  Otherwise they are the same for all other pins on the Loconet bus.

Yes to both questions.
