Digitrax DZ125 turns off light function in CV29=34 Why?
Posted by Gerome on Thursday, August 7, 2008 3:26 PM

Is this a normal function of the DZ125s?  I get normal on/off light function with F0 when decoder is reset, but when programming CV 29 to 34, I lose the light function, even when after I check and reset CV49 to 0.

Did I miss something in that stupidly complex manual of Digitrax decoders?

it could just be a faulty decoder, it wouldn't be the first DZ125 to not work right, i had 2 out of 4 not work out the packet. that said, take time to check the destructions just incase??

I'll try to provide a more constructive answer.  Also, I have never had a bad Digitrax decoder out of the bag and I've bought close to 50 of them.  I must be very lucky  Big Smile [:D]  Anyway, with CV29=34, the main thing you've done ie enable 4 digit addressing (and 128 step throttle).  When you do this, you say you lose F0 function control.  Does the throttle continue to respond or does the locomotive not move either ?  Does F0 not work in either direction or just in one direction ?  When you reset it are you changing anything other CV before programming CV29 and then F0 stops working ?  If so, what other CVs ?  Lastly, what DCC throttle are you using ?  To answer your question, no it isn't that difficult but troubleshooting the problem sometimes requires a few questions.
