I have an NScale Atlas H15-44 (June 2003) without a decoder. I would like to find a Digitrax decoder to put in it but I haven't located one specifically for it. Does anyone know which Digitrax decoder would fit in this loco and how would I enable the side marker lights in addition to the headlights.
Thanks,
Eric
I'm kinda likin this stuff
Eric,
The easiest way is to buy a decoder from Atlas, I think they use Lenz. There is a write up on it on the TCS website using a wired decoder soldered to the DC board. The same thing could be done with a wired Digitrax decoder. The problem is that the bicolor LEDs Atlas used are reverse polarity for decoder use. I kooked at the writeup and my soldering skills are nowhere close to what would be required to do it (shakey hand syndrome).
I have one and I didn't care for the class lights so I just used a standard board replacement decoder with some heat shrink over the headlight LED to act as a light block. Then I used some black fingernail polish over the inside of the class lights.
