Hi all,
I am trying to figure out what the selection is for installing sound in my Kato HO SD70Mac? Does anyone have any recommendations? Since I will only be doing one, I don't mind spending a bit more.
Thanks much,
Peter
David,
Were you among the folks doing the beta test? If so what are your impressions? I have one on order from Tony's and have already bought the computer interface. I have LokSound as well and it looks like the Quantum has a few more features. Not saying anything wrong with the LokSound as they are my preference.
Chris
Dave,
Could you elaborate a bit more? Did you actualy put it in a Kato? The more information the better. Thanks.

If you purchase a Kato locomotive with sound already installed, it is a Digitrax SoundFX decoder that is in it.
Cacole,
This Kato is soundless and DCC-less for that matter.
I was impressed what I read about the QSI product and thought spendy, I will likely go that route.

Does this version address the inrush issues that have plagued previous QSI products?
Steve
Digitrax makes sound / motion decoders with an attached one inch speaker that are designed to "drop in" to Kato's SD-38, AC4400, and F40PH, respectively. The Kato units even have a space for the speaker in the fuel tank under the engines. (I installed one in my DMIR SD-38, very easy.) I'm not sure if Kato is offering these engines now with the sound units already installed, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did.
AFAIK there isn't a similar Digitrax decoder set-up for the SD70 or option for a sound version. I know there isn't (unless it's a very recent addition) a space for a 1" speaker like on the three engines noted above.
