DCC and Sound in a HAMO
Posted by GTX765 on Thursday, May 15, 2008 6:07 AM

I have an old HAMO steamer BR41? with a DCC decoder installed and want to add sound. I purchased the model this way and wondered how to take it apart and to add LOK sound to it. Any ideas? Help would be greatful for I am in uncharted waters once again.

Thanks

 Sean

Can't help you with the disassembly as I don't know what a HAMO is. The install however, as long as there is room for the unit, the capacitor, and a speaker(s) shouldn't be all that difficult. Gets power from the rails just like the regular decoder.

HAMO is the same as TRIX from Marklin. I have looked the engine over and do not see screws to take it apart. Very strange loco but neat to operate. Just trying to get inside of it with out breaking it.

See if there's a screw inside the exhaust stack. And Hamo is/was the DC version of Marklin AC locos.
