Wiring Reverse Loops
Posted by superbe on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 7:45 PM

Pictured below is a simplified track diagram for the purpose of finding where to put insulated rail joiners, how many auto power reversers are need and where they should be. Would you suggest some 1156 light bulbs as well? Also any input as to whether this is workable or suggested track changes will be appreciated.

There are two main lines. Turnouts 1,2,3, and 4 allow the train to change from one line to the other and back again.

Turnouts 5 and 6 change the train's direction, 7 and 8 change it back again.

The track plan is not this basic but shows enough for answering my questions.

Thanks,

Bob

Hi, just joined this forum to try to find some help on wiring Tortoises. Came across this and offer my thoughts. Let me hasten to say that I am just getting into DCC so would like some feedback from the DCC pros on these possibilities - thanks.

I see 2 options

1) requires 2 Auto-Reverse boards wired to the two isolated cross overs in the middle of the layout.

2) requires 4 Auto-Reverse boards wired to the 4 half circles. The half circles would have to be isolated. A little more money but the advantage would allow all bus wiring to be color coded from the front of the layout rather than the middle of the oval. In other words Red bus always nearer the front and Black bus always behind the Red.

Wiring gurus please see my other post to help with Tortoise wiring.

Thanks,
