Need wiring diagram for DCC and DC power supplies
Posted by Lateral-G on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 10:13 AM

I need a wiring diagram for a DPDT switch set-up so I can go back and forth between a regualr DC power pack and DCC for my layout.

Does anyone have a diagram for this?

TIA

Use this diagram as a reference:

Connect your DCC to contacts 1 and 4.

Connect your DC to contacts 3 and 6.

Connect your track to contacts 2 and 5.

Also, be sure that you have a non-shorting switch.  Usually a "center off" switch will be non-shorting, but check to be sure.  The reason is that current feeding back from one system to the other, while you're switching over, could be harmful.

HTH,
Steve

I used the same switch and then added two more. From the out 2 and 5 I went to the next switch center off also.  I can switch from the layout to the programing track.  The third switch allows me to us the programin track for either programing or test running.  I hope this helps
