Question about: NCE decoder & MRC prodigy express
Posted by CrossTrack Trains on Friday, February 8, 2008 12:44 PM

Anyone have a NCE decoder & MRC prodigy express cab?

How well does it work for programming the locomotive address? Any problems?

There will be no issues. You can run any decoder with any system and NCE decoders are of great quality. David B

Almost any system.

It was brought to our attenion that with a NCE cab and a Bachmann decoder the loco's short address cannot be one digit, you try to change it from the factory default 3 to say 5 and it does not work. Unless we are missing something? But if you change it from default 3 to say 5432 it will work.

Also there is problems with  MRC Prodigy and a Bachmann decoder the factory default 3 is not changeable with a one or two digit short address.

We had never heard of such things from the DCC, we under the assumtion that all  NMRA decoders would work the same,  but we were trying to answer a question quickly and needed to know if an NCE decoder & MRC prodigy express would play nice. And for the record they work fine together. Just the bachmann's were misbehaving.

Plus Bachmann's decoders can make your motor hum at low speeds, in short Bachmann's decoders are "Not Good" do not purchase unless you like getting disappointed.

I appoligize to the forum police for posting in 3 forums but we needed the answer quickly and we were not getting any answers, just views. so we tried a few spots to gain exposure, sorry again forum police. Smile [:)]
