These are the meazsurements that came off the physical models I have.  not prototype drawings.   I used a tool for measuring outside circumferences ( i cannt think of the name of it.  Looks like a compass with the ends bent inward).  I compared the widths to a scale rule and that is what I found the models to be.  Most likely factory variation.  Between a P2K S-1 and the Atlas RS11  measured at the point the two would be joined.

Wayne,  that means the Atlas S-1 will much more closely match thier RS11 in width.  A nominal difference if any.

Hi..

Say, where were you able to find Atlas RS-11 shells? None available on the Atlas site.

Thanks in advance and good luck with your project!

EDIT: Update, I did find some RS- 11 shells on Atlas, but they appear to be the old version with the molded on grabirons.  I was looking for the newer ones.

You have to go into the exploded view sheets and find the model you want.  Each of the parts is identified with a clickable number that takes you to the part.  I find not al lavaliablee parts are listed on the parts pages for some reason.

...The S-1 measure 5 foot wide. I looked up dimensions for a T6. And found the only drawings had photobucket plastered on it and were blurry. Useless. So which is right? 6 foot or 5 foot wide hood? Does the atlas S-1 have the same measurement?

No, I just now measured my older Atlas S-1, and its hood (not over the radiator louvres), measures about 5'9" or 5'10" in width.

Seems odd, that site lists all the RS models (well, RS-1 to RS-3) as 5'05", I have huge doubts that the S1 is a foot and a half wider. You think it would be easy to find a top down view to compare the hood width to the track gauge.....

I don't know anything about Alco's, but I did find this:

http://thedieselshop.us/DataS1S3.HTML

It says the engine hood is 6'10", the cab 10'.

This looks like a pretty handi site.

The atlas RS11 shells have arrived.  I realized i have two P2K s-1 here with all the guys and such.  Even better,  the door arrangement is correct for the T6.  Just change out the radiator section. Yippee right. Nope.  The atlas RS11 measures 6 foot wide.  The S-1 measure 5 foot wide.   I looked up dimensions for a T6.  And found the only drawings had photobucket plastered on it and were blurry.   Useless.    So which is right? 6 foot or 5 foot wide hood?  Does the atlas S-1 have the same measurement?
