Train Shed lighting
Posted by Jeff1952 on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 11:29 PM

Work progresses on the Walthers Milwaukee Road Train Shed kit in which I'll be showcasing my passenger streamliners at rest. I used a full kit, and half-again from a second shed kit, so it occupies a lot of real estate. I don't plan to glue the thing down, in case I need to lift it off for cleaning or maintenance. That being said, my original plan was to install Woodland Scenics Just Plug lighting out of sight beneath the roofing or along the supporting structure. But the wiring would be "challenging" to arrange and still have the roof structure and supporting columns "lift off". My question... would it look "okay" to use Just Plug arched Street Lights along the platforms to illuminate the boarding areas? I've seen it done on several other layouts and thought it looked fine. Just wondered if its protypically unforgivable?

I use micro connectors between roofs and walls and walls and the base.  Early on I made my own connectors using K&S brass tubing and brass rods.

By using connectors you can wire the lighting any way you want.

I think every modeler should endure the torture of LED micro surgery to get his lighting merrit badge. This mockup worked well for me and I am almost complete in the installation of 30 of these in my roundhouse.
