On the northern section between Clovis and Carlsbad, the Santa Fe had regular passenger service until 1967. Until the early 1950s, there was sleeper (all HW) through-service from Belen, Waynoka, or even Chicago, for visitors to the Carlsbad Caverns. In the mid-fifties, train 25/26 Clovis-Carlsbad was reduced to a set-up consisting of motor car ("doodlebug") M-160 or M-190 and an observation car.
The southern part between Carlsbad and Pecos saw much less passenger traffic. There was just one mixed train. Pictures in McCall's "Coach, Cabbage, and Caboose" from 1959 show ALCO RSD-5 #2141, a string of freight cars (at least one of them a T&P box car), and caboose/combine #2542 for the passengers. To my knowledge, there is no model of #2542 available. Pecos River Brass has produced #2544, but it looks quite different.
I model the T&P and one section is the city of Pecos, Texas where the T&P crossed the Panhandle & Santa Fe. I'm seeking any information about what, if any, passenger service existed between Clovis, NM and Pecos in the post- war period. In particular, what equipment was used by the P&SF. Thanks for any leads on this.
