So when UP 1943 crossed horseshoe curve, she had two antennas on the long hood around where the exhaust is. What type of antenna are these and what are they for? I want to model them on my model because I model NS around Enola. Thanks in advance.
I just looked at a bunch of Google images, and I don't see anything like an antenna near the exhaust. The horn is right after and the antennas are all on the roof, over the cab.
The only other thing I see sticking out by the exhaust is the lift rings on the sides.
OK wait, I did find this, I won't post the picture because of the copyright of the owner, but here's the link:

I don't know what they are. Something for communications just on this particular train?
Mike.
EDIT: The only thing I found on Google, was your post on another forum, no other info.

Thanks for respondin, yes that we my post on another forum.
You can see the same "antennas" mounted on the 4141 in this video:
Note that several of the passenger cars seem to have metal rectangles applied to them as well. They almost look like flags but they seem to be wire mesh. It doesn't seem to be related to the PTC antenna array.
My guess is that there is a wireless communication system set up to monitor or view cab activity via these transmit/recieve antennas?
It appears these rearward facing antennas are semi-permanently installed and removed when not in use.
Just a guess... Ed
I can see in my photos of UP 1943 from March 2018 that there are antenna on the roof of the unit behind the cab. I chased 4141 and 1943 last week, but don't have any close up pictures currently on hand to see if they still have those antenna; although from what I remember they weren't there.
