Thrall and the Santa Fe
Posted by jjscott2 on Tuesday, June 29, 2004 3:57 PM
Can anyone say if the Santa Fe ever used the "Thrall" or "All Door" boxcar and, if so, what the BX- number was.

I know they did use some Thrall manufactured cars and have the Santa Fe box car book showing them. But, the book does have gaps in the BX- numbers. Could the all door box car have been one of them?

Thanks in advance, Jim

To my knowledge (then again, I model business/excursion trains), the Santa Fe never had any Thrall "All Door" box cars. An excellent reference book would be the book on ATSF box cars by Paired Rail.

Jim,
Way too modern for me, but perhaps one of the 10 articles cited in the keyword search I did at the Index of Magazines will help:

Some of the articles were specific to the "All Door." As usual, look for the cited back issue magazines at your LHS or order photocopies from the NMRA's Kalmbach Memorial Library:
