Transition Era Vehicle Prototypes
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 12:40 PM
Hi- I've been rather casually taking photos of vehicles and putting them on the web. If you want to see any of them, go to http://www.t-one.net/~om/proto/proto.htm

Nice photos! I could use any info on 1920s and 1930s vehicles.

In some of your pics there seems to be something nice parked next to the one in question! Any chance of pictures of the green van, or the others parked nearby?

Thanks for the link.

I have a few to add, but probably not the one you want... The ones posted have been up there for awhile and most are gone (if they were local) or something I snapped while traveling. I have a SO COOL White COE grain truck to add ... as soon as I find the disk. Well, knowing that someone is interested might motivate me.

Andrew:

There are websites for most period manufacturers and styles of vehicles, Mack for example has one.

Also, Jordan makes a large line of vintage vehicles from the period you mention.

Good Luck

Andrew,
if you didn't see my response in an earlier thread, you may want to check out the 1937 era vehicles that Sylvan offers in cast resin kits:

Randy - Thanks - I have a few of the Jordan vehicles as the "older" trucks on my layout. Do you have an address for that Mack site?

Bob - Thanks for the links. I have seen these kits at my local shop, but not on-line.

LV - Keep up the good work! Looking forward to more photos.

Incidentally, for the past few years, there has been an old-style delivery truck slowly sinking in a swamp just outside of the town where I live. It looks like one of those Mini-Metal (?) vans. Anyway, I have been intending to take a picture of it ever since I saw it, because it would make a really neat scene (although too new for me). I drive by every day for two years without a camera, and yesterday I discover that it has been hauled away... [:(]. That will teach me....

The lesson in this is ALWAYS BRING YOUR CAMERA!!! And ALWAYS GET A SHOT OF IT NOW!!! I can't remember how many local buildings I promised myself I'd get a shot of are now gone and I never got to take a picture...since I started carrying a disposable camera in my glove compartment at all times I always have a camera ready for That One Shot!!!
