Auto Stack?
Posted by Metro Red Line on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 12:11 AM

I was looking at the Greenbrier website and there's a section on containerizing automobiles for travel on doublestack cars:

I've never seen this prototype. Has anyone?

I think you have to do the math. 1 car to a 20' 2 to a 40' vs what 15 on a trilevel. And the cars are driven on in groups not 1 at a time. With the modern locked racks damage from vandalism is not a big problem.

I have never seen that prototype - but transport of high end/exotic cars by container is common.  There was a company years ago that was buying used Corvettes, etc., and exporting them by container to overseas customers.
