I'm kinda new here, but i'm in the process of constructing my first layout[:D], a simple 4x8. I am modeling the Green Mountain railroad line in central Vermont, and was exctatic when i saw atlas' new release of a GMR and VTR GP-40. What i would like to know is if anyone has anymore information, or would know where i could get some more information on the railraods(past and present)of northern new england, especially vermont. Any info would be great!!!

Try these websites I've found through Google.com, they are some of the best I know of:
www.vermontrailrailway.com
www.cvrhs.com
http://www.vermonthobbydepot.com/vrs.html
http://www.trainweb.org/trains/vtr.html
www.railpictures.net
http://gcdranet.homelinux.com/davehonan/vt/vtr.html
Good luck modeling this most excellent shortline! The Vermont Rail System offers some outstanding modeling possibilities with such scenic beauty, interesting and attractive paint schemes on a nice mix of motive power and a variety of operations.

Johnny,
I am planning a layout based on the Vermont and Green Mountain railway myself. the links listed above will help. those are the one i have used so far. Let me know how you make out finding rolling stock with the vermont railway logo...they are hard to come by but there are some out there. I have three diesels and am going to get a fourth this weekend if all goes well. Keep me posted with any pictures or updates! Good luck!!

I have the rolling stock problem as well. The way i look at it, if i cant find enough variety i will just make my own. Microscale decals (http://www.microscale.com/) has decals for the GMRC and almost any other road you can think of. When i get my scenery done (which may be a while[;)]) i will invest in some new roling stock and one or more locos. Do you know what the deal is with the new Atlas GMRC loco-i couldnt find it on their website or any online retailers. I did find it a show, but i think i could get it cheaper online if i could find it. Well good luck, and i will post some pics of my project as progress is made.

Are you talking about the GP-40? I have one of the VTR ones and one of the GMR ones as well. I found them at a show and one at my local hobby shop. I paid 100 for the VTR and 125 for the GMR.
Edit...just got an e-mail from Atlas about the new GMRC loco...you have to place an order for it from the local hobby shop. its a nice looking loco
