I would like to model the Chessie Steam Special but am unsure if there are any products in production that i could use as a start for my project. I know the loco was an ex reading rr #2101 but after that i dont know much else about the loco. If any one can help me with this I would appreciate the help. Thanks

It was a Reading class T1 that is available in brass. For info on T1's you might want to search on "Reading Rambles" or look at the Reading Co. Technical and Historical Society's web page.

The Bowser Northern is about the same size as the T1.

chessie490,

If you live on the east of the mississippi, it was pulled by the Reading T1. West of the mississippi it was pulled by a different engine. The actual engine probably is at the bone yard in Baltimore at the BO Muesum. Web site is www.BORail.org

If you are trying to replicate the consist I encourage you to remember that there are many quailtiy pass. cars out on the market. I consider Walthers and Spectrum to be pretty darn good. It may be cheaper to find some needed cars at a train meet.

Best of luck with your project. You may even be on the road to a MR article about this event.

The second engine was C&O 614 There ought to be plenty of photos of it pulling the New River Train, Huntington to Hinton WV
Have fun with your project!
