Great Northern
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, June 30, 2006 3:26 PM

I have purchased Micro Scale decals for the Empire Builder Passenger cars 1920-1950 But do not know what car they should be applied to. Can anyone help identify what cars are Dining, Coach, Sleeping, Parlour etc. Is there a reference source on the net? There are several State names such as Wisconsin, Iowa, Idaho, as well as individuals such as James Hill, Alexander Ramsey and Lord Mountstephen.
I would be indebted to anyone who could give me information on the above
Many thanks in advance for your help in this matter

Regards
Alex

OK. Your question is an involved one. The state names belong on diners.
James J. Hill was one of the 1929 Empire Builder solarium observation
cars-a closed end observation equipped with a sunroom.
There are several Great Northern-related sites on the Web.
www.gngoat.org is a good one. On it are links to others.
www.gnrhs.org is the Great Northern Railway Historical Society website.
I encourage anyone with an interest in the GN to join. Through our Society,
much wonderful information is available on a wide variety of subjects.
Hope this helps.
