I would like to know if Rock Island S. W. 1500 switch engines were all powered with 1500 H.P. diesel 567 engines in 8 cylinder or 12 cylinder? I think there were only 10 of them that worked armourdale yard, correct ? Also, I'm not sure exactly where Armourdale yard is. Is it in Kansas City? These were rebuilt during the "Capital Rebuitd Program "right before the end, correct?........does anyone know for sure about all this?............I try to model the Rock island stuff as closely as I can..........Machinistman.

Rock Island did have 10 SW1500s built in 1966 numbered 940-949. These locomotives were built with the 12 cylinder 645E engine. I believe Amourdale Yard is in Kansas City, Missouri. Check online for the Rock Island Technical Society for more Rock Island information.
