That's cool, Mike; I haven't seen a rail grinding train, since my youth; on Erie Lackawanna trackage in the Delaware River valley in NY state.
I believe it was this train that there was an article on in Trains Mag. several years back.

Very cool pics, Mike. I've seen this-or a very similar-outfit in operation in
Washington State. FYI, unless I am completely mistaken, the heritage of
that caboose (waycar) goes back to the Great Northern Railway. It is
one of the pair of bay window cabooses built by the GN in 1966 for service
on taconite unit trains on Minnesota's Mesabi Range-the X184-X185 cars.
I have it on good authority that they were sold to Loram by the BN in the 80s.
