Rivarossi HO '20's Baggage Car
Posted by Phelps on Friday, February 24, 2006 5:40 PM
What is the prototype for the Rivarossi HO '20's 70 ft. baggage car, the one with six-wheel trucks and clerestory roof?

Thanks in advance,

I'm not sure if it is based on a particular railroad's car, I think it's meant to be sort of "generic". Many RR's in the heavyweight era had very similar cars.

FWIW Athearns' baggage car and RPO are based on Santa Fe prototypes - but then I think all of their passenger cars are !!

The Rivarossi 1920s baggage car is pretty generic, but should be a pretty good fit for passenger operations of most railroads into the late 1950s. As mentioned, the Athearn Baggage car, which scales out at about 70ft. is a Santa Fe prototype, but again, looks pretty good on almost any passenger train of the 1920-late 1950's era.
