I want to build a GP39-2 in the MKT, but I have no info to use as a reference to model it. I know that they have shells you can buy, but every railroad had something different and I would like to be accurate. Would appreciate any help.
Thanks and God bless...

There are quite a few GP39-2 photos over on http://www.rr-fallenflags.org:

There seem to be multiple shots of these engines at different locations. BTW, MR did an article on (I think) MKT SDs in the mid-1990s. A different animal, but they were also painted green and yellow.

The article that your are looking for is titled "Keeping up with the GP39-2" by Tom Busack. It was published in the April 1990 issue of Model Railroader. You can find more articles by going to the "index of magazines" (at the top of page) and searching under GP39-2.

Thanks for your replies so far. I have ordered the April 1990 issue of MRR as of Friday. I should've specified earlier, but I need to see a good view of the roof. I guess that's what seperates it from other Geeps. I can't seem to find any pics of the top. I've gone through the Fallen Falgs website, Railpics and a few other MKT/Katy related sites, but to no avail. Maybe I've overlooked them, but I check these sites constantly. Won't hurt my feelings if proved wrong, though. Thanks again for the help so far and I hope someone can provide more. God bless...

Just wanted to let you folks know I appreciate the hel and found what I've been looking for. Check it out! It's a really good top shot of a Katy GP39-2. Found it on site http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/mkt/mkt361amf.jpg . I must have overlooked it or maybe it was added recently. Don't know, but glad I found it. Thanks for the help Tom, Dan and emdgp92. Good to know folks are willing to help out. God bless and happy railroading....

You're quite welcome. When I posted those GP39-2 photos, I just picked a few at random. He's constantly adding new material up there.
