CSX Upgrading Signal Stands?

Between Lithonia and Social Circle (and I'm sure beyond) on what I believe is referred to as the "Georgia" Subdivision (Ex-CofG line Atlanta to Augusta) I've noticed new three light signal masts being positioned in quite a few new locations. The old signals are all single light target style, spread a few miles apart, and these new signals are being placed about every mile or maybe a little more. Just wondering if anybody had any info on why the upgrade. Maybe it's a sign of things to come (more rail traffic?? [:D] )

csx is slowly upgradeing and standerizing all its signals... all new signals that are to replace older ones...(serchlights CPS..ext.ext) are all slowly being replaced with the stop light style of signal... and this is system wide..

Why would they be adding new signals in locations that haven't had them before? Alot of places are just replacing older signals, but around here locally, there are probably five or six new signals going up where there never have been signals before. I think it's great, because it makes it easier to check the signals for oncoming trains (trainwatching), I'm just wondering if it's a sign that they plan on packing more traffic into the area.
