Just let you know, A good reference book for the LIRR is Steel Rails to The Sunrise by Ron Ziel. I actually met and talked with him in the late 70's and early 80's and he had a very good picture of one of the RS3's in a grey and orange color scheme that looked a lot like NH Mcginus Orange White and Black scheme. The LIRR also had a number of ALCO Century 420 units. I used to ride behind them when going out to the South Fork (Hamptons) in the 1960's.
