Pullman Interiors and Amtrak's Amfleet Cars

I've seen plenty of black and white pictures. I've seen plenty of colorful HO inserts. Even the color picture of an RPO interior. Just don't have any luck finding pictures or text of what was once in these cars.

But what are the real interior colors to pullman's many passenger cars. I have a combine and a diner lounge that need to be detailed on the inside and I searched for a few hours usin google and such to no avail.

I was wondering if anyone that has that knowledge or a book with that knowledge goes to the forum and if they would fill me in on my missing data.

And Guys, what am I supposed to see in this little thing that I have pointed two on two separate cars with red arrows.

Is that supposed to show the number of the car again and if so, in what colors...the MTH ones just show gray plastic, and I don't think thats right...also is it supposed to light up? if so, then I gotta get light to those portholes.

The arrow questions I can answer The ports are lighted and they are balck with white lettering. What I can't tell you is what the numbers represented on Amtrak . Prior to Amtrak they were the assigned loading numbers to the coaches and sleeping cars on most railroads. Probably the same for Amtrak but don't really follow Amtrak that closely.

As to color schemes of the interiors re the dining lounge it depends on the railroad as they were painted different colors for different roads. As to Pullman interiors they were light browns light greens and even light grays depends again on what the owning road specified.
There are several good books out on the Pullman cars one recently released is Travel By Pullman it should be available almost anywhere.

Do you know the general colors in that, if I want to paint them, I can kind of have an idea of the shades? I just wanted a generic Pullman scheme because I have two coaches that I plan to have either with NYC, Southern, or N&W.

They have the outside pullman green, but I'd just like to figure some really basic color of the walls, seats, vestibules, and floors that it won't really matter which set I put them with.

Well when in doubt in the heavyweight era, a light green (like Tamiya cockpit green) is a good bet, many cars (and cabooses, and buildings) used that color for their interior. Seats could be red or green plush. I usually use depot buff (sort of greyish yellow) and I think it looks good, especially if you paint in white antimacassars on the headrests.
