E6B and E7B differences
Posted by emdgp92 on Monday, November 14, 2005 4:00 PM
I picked up a scrap LL E6B as a parts supply for my E7B recently. I've swapped over the frame/motor and other running gear. However, I'm still left with an E6B that's mostly complete. I'd like to park it near my engine facility as a "dead" unit. However, since I model the PC, which didn't have E6s, are there any external differences between that and an E7?

The "Diesel Spotter's Guide" says , referring to E3B,E4B,E5B,E6B,E7B:
"All B's are indistinguishable...".

Wow, indistinguishable? That's a truckload of suck! I guess the only way is to cross check the roadname and number...

I'll buy E-3Bs through E-7Bs being indistinguishable if you omit the E-5B. They were strictly a CB&Q item (incl subsidiaries) and were stainless steel w/ a letterboard under the side vents and smaller window panel, currgugated side sheets and, as built, had skirts on the trucks. Highly distinguishable!

Thanks for the info!

Of course now I have another problem...to paint the E in PC colors, but with the PRR,or NYC lettering showing :p

Since you model PC, you could probably get away with an E7B in full NYC or PRR lettering. NYC E7B's were already numbered in the 4100 series so no patch numbers are necessary but PRR E7B's were renumbered prior to the merger so the lettering style of the number is different from PRR norm.
