it depends on the era you will be modeling NYC changed alot after WW2 trying to bring passengers back so when something new came out, they usually jumped on it. Me personally I'm trying to find smoothside lightweights. the silver corrugated mess looks wrong hooked up to an NYC diesel, but alot if not all the smoothsides I have found have the same paint job as the train so it all matches. You could always use heavyweights to, they were used right up till the end.
