looking for steeplecab plans

Anybody have plans for a basic steeplecab, ? I'd like to build one in N using a Kato 2-truck power chassis. I really like Claremont #18 as shown in the 11/04 RMC. Even just a decent schematic from which I can get some measurements would be great. Thanks everyone! [:D]

June 2000 Model Railroader has drawings for a Baldwin

Model Railroader published a book _ Traction Guidebook for Model Railroaders_ in the 1970's. I found it listed used on Amazon.com at $30-$40, which is a lot more than the original price.

Railroad Model Craftsman published _Traction Planbook_ in the 1960's.

Steeple cabs were generally small locomotives (most about the size of a GE 44 ton diesel)

I am unaware of a Kato two truck chassis that is small enough. Kato's single 4-wheel power truck is probably small enough but not protypical for a US steeple cab.

Traction Guidebook for Model Railroaders was an excellent book! I remember reading it way back when - but after several moves it some how got lost. I've seen copies on sale on ebay for a lot less than $30.00.

In the 1970's Western Railcraft produced N scale brass body kits for interurban cars. They had a Pacific Electric steeple cab in the line. It is less than 2 inches long. I never finished mine because I could not find a satisfactory way to power it.

Thanks everyone, great stuff. I've ordered copies of the Traction Planbook and the Traction guidebook, and gotten some plans and assistance from the people at the Yahoo nscaletraction group as well. I'm anxious to get started![:D][:D]

If you go to shapeways.com the 3D printing site, they have a Baldwin N-scale steeple cab and a Sacramento Northern GE steeple cab.  People are using Bandai N-scale powered chassis from eBay for them. Honest, I don't work for shapeways. Be sure to search "steeplecab both as one word and two in order to find all results. You can also search "Interurban" to find five pages of carshells. Soon they are supposed to have SN 1005.
