NYC H16-44s...

I'm finally getting around to finishing off an Atlas H16-44 as an NYC unit, and it brings up this question: What year did the NYC renumber its H16-44s from the 7000-series to the 5100-series?

I'm looking to number it appropriately for late 1964. Online reference sources have not been of much help- they either concentrate on the time they were delivered, or the Penn Central merger.
