SD38-2 / SD40-2 differences?

SD38-2 / SD40-2 differences?

What are the differences between EMDs SD38-2 and SD40-2. THey both look very similar but i havent looked closely at any photos.[?]

The 38 has 2 large radiator fans on the rear hood and the 40 has 3 fans.
The 38 has at least 2 exhaust ports on the roof (on either side of the dynamic brake fans) and the 40 has one large turbocharger exhaust in front of the dynamic brake fans.

There are other small differences but the above are some of the more obvious ones.

SD38-2's will often have a raised box ahead of the dynamic brake housing, this box contains paper air filters. The SD40-2 has no such feature.

Of course, to the railroads the difference is 1000 hp. The SD38-2 has 2000 hp, the SD40-2 has 3000 hp, which is why the 40 series has larger radiators and one more fan.

Thanks guys i just bought one of them Kato SD38-2 and an SD40-2 is my favorite engine so i just wanted to know what there diffs are. [:)]
