Chattahoochee Valley Railroad

Hi everyone,

Well this is my first post of many I hope. Anyway, I just got into the hobby but have been experimenting with several ideas for years and never really acted upon them, until now. This will be my first model railroad when and if it is ever contructed. I am modeling a prototype railroad of the CHV (Chattahoochee Valley railroad) the railroad I grew up next to as a kid in Valley Alabama. If the is any one out there who has heard of this extremely small textile line, please send any info you are wiling to share. Until then, have fun playing with trains while I have fun at the hobby shop.

There is a paperback book out on the Chattahoochee Valley. I am in the office now but will check it when I get home.

OK, the book is "Images of America - Chattahoochee Valley Railway" by Tom Gallo. Published by Arcadia Press and is available from Barnes and Noble. Is is a great source for anyone interested in modeling the railway. It costs about $25.00. Have fun!

Also, be sure to get a copy of the Dec.'73 article in MR. Excellent modeling info even if the track plan is a little pretentious.

Just wanted to let you know that there is a model setup showing the Valley railroad. It is located in the Lafayette Museum in Lafayette Alabama. The museum is open on Saturdays. It is a very large model depicting all of the towns around there. I do not know a whole lot about model trains but it is quite impressive and I do recommend that you check it out.
