Looking at Atherns WP's bay window caboose, The color just dont look right, seems it was a lighter red?

the only advice i can give you would be to check the wp historical society web page or www.rr-fallenflags.org and if these dont give you an answer try paintshop@mrmag.com.
hope this will help you out as i have used these resources myself in the past

The color on the Athearn model is definitely a lot brighter than the real thing on the Fallen Flags site, but I think it might be about right for a freshly painted one.

I checked the photos the Western Pacific Color Pictorial vol 2. Most of the red cabooses pictured in it look closer to the Athearn model than to the Fallen Flags photos. This fits my memory of them. Of course you can't completely trust the color in books or on the net.

I tried to sell my two cents worth, but no one would give me a plug nickel for it.

I don't have a leg to stand on.
